All Day Long…

5 For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD,
my confidence since my youth.
6 From birth I have relied on you;
you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
I will ever praise you.
7 I have become a sign to many;
you are my strong refuge.
8 My mouth is filled with your praise,
declaring your splendor all day long.
Psalm 71:5-8
This has become one of my favorite passages of Scripture, especially verse 8. It’s really the prayer of my heart. May my mouth declare the splendor, the glory, the majesty of my God all day long.
Days are pretty interesting for most of us. Days are filled with ups and downs. I can get up in the morning, feeling really good…until something happens! Someone or something is bound to come into my life to distract me and turn, what was a good day, into a bad one. I’m learning, though, that it’s all perspective.
My prayer is that my days, regardless of what anyone says or does, regardless of what goes right or wrong, regardless of anything that happens, that I will praise my Creator. Not just with words but with my actions.
With the way I treat those closest to me.
With the way I treat the ones I hardly know.
WIth the devotion and meditation of my heart.
“My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.”
